Cos Bar at Target

Beauty Lab: Target’s done it again. This time the trendy store chain has collaborated with luxury beauty boutique Cos Bar to launch a limited edition beauty line.  If you are not familiar with Cos Bar, it’s an upscale beauty boutique with 12 locations nationwide that started in Aspen Colorado. All products featured at Target are under $20 and range from body scrubs and lotions in orange citrus, blueberry white tea, cucumber melon to leopard print accessories and false eyelashes.  Orange citrus was our favored scent of the three along with the cute leopard print nail files and toesies!

Beauty Lab : Cinematic Inspiration Moonrise Kingdom

In Wes Anderson’s charming new movie, Moonrise Kingdom, the clear star of the film is Kara Hayward.  As Suzy, just a young girl, but exudes so much cool, it’s kind of unfair.  Set back in the ’60s, her makeup is super cute and noticed she wears blue eyeshadow in most of the shots.  With so much neutral palettes popping up, thought it would be nice to wear blue eyeshadow again once in a while.  Here’s a look inspired by Suzy.

DIY Hair Color Trends & Tips

Dark Lipstick at the MET Ball

It’s no news that the dominant lipstick color on the red carpet of last week’s MET Ball in New York was a dark deep wine color.  Literally, almost everyone was rocking the dark lips.  From Kate Bosworth, Camilla Belle, to Lana Del Rey.  Here are some gorgeous shades we chose for you to try.  Yes, dark lips are bold, but they are also very classic and glamorous.  Also, it’s not just for the red carpet.  We found this makeup tutorial from TopShop, and we love how casual and cool this looks.  Try it for a night out!

The hot trend for Spring is to wear multi-color nail polish.  As seen on all the major fashion editors at fashion week, this is a super easy trend that anyone can wear.  To make it even easier for you, most nail polish brands are coming out with mini size color palette packages.  This means you don’t have to buy a full size of each different color.  Also, they do the work for you by creating complimentary color combos.  If you’re young, you can try to the full on rainbow effect.  If you want a more subtle approach, try just using two colors, alternated.  Or if bright colors are not your thing, try sticking to a gradient shade of a single color.  So chic!

Coachella Essentials

If there’s one thing you shouldn’t forget to take to Coachella, it’s sun protection.  It’s the dessert.  It’s a 3-day outdoor festival.  You must protect your skin from the sun.  Now, there’s so many great options to choose from.

For the body: Look for a brand you’ve normally used before.  Even if it’s just sunblock, your skin may react differently to some products.  If you have sensitive skin, look for a sunblock specifically to suit your needs.  Neutrogena, Aveeno, Banana Boat (available at drugstore.com)

For the face:  We highly recommend looking for a separate sunblock for your delicate face.  Clinique (available at most department stores), Neutrogena (drugstore.com), Lancome (at most department stores)

For the lips: Don’t forget your lips!  Most lip balms and chapsticks come with SPF now, just make sure to double check the label to see that it does.  Maybelline, Nivea (drugstore.com)

After the sun: After all that sweating and reapplying sunblock creams, you’re going to want to wipe that clean before you go to bed.  Try a cooling body wash like Organix Tea tree Peppermint.  Clean your face with a refreshing facial towelette from Yes To Cucumbers.  (drugstore.com)

On the go:  You’re at an all day festival for days.  You’re going to want to pack light.  To reapply throughout the day, we recommend a portable sun block stick.  It’s small and convenient to apply.  Banana Boat, Clinique (drugstore.com, Nordstrom.com)

Pantone Tangerine Tango Spring Make-up Trends

Work the Trend Beauty Lab: Now that spring is finally here it’s time to test out this season’s Pantone color of the year tangerine tango.  We love the idea soft & bold tangerine hues for make-up because it instantly warms the skin tone. You can wear a sweep of it across the lid or mix pre-choosen eyeshadow color combos like, Dolce & Gabbanna eyeshadow quad in cocoa.  Sweep the neutral color across the lid, the warm peach tone in the crease, & highlighter on the brow line.
